Ivory Coast Refugees
The Light Evangelism Ministry, LEM, is calling on individuals, business and churches to help the ministry provide for the humanitarian needs of the refugees from Ivory Coast that are sweeping across the Liberian border into Nimba Country, Liberia, West Africa.
Rev. Mabiah, one of LEM's Outreach Evangelists and director of LEM's Children’s Bible Conference, contacted and reported the news about the refugees and their needs to Rev. GNeh-kewon Mark Dahn. Rev. Dahn, who exiled in the Ivory Coast for seven years as the result of the Liberian Civil and Rebel War, without hesitation asked Rev. Mabiah to travel to LEM headquarters under construction in Monrovia to receive and purchase some supplies for the Ivorian refugees.
LEM is dispatched its Outreach Evangelistic Team on Saturday, March 26, 2011, to travel along the border of Liberia and Ivory Coast with the following items:
- Clothing for babies, women, men, boys and girls
- Rice
- Wheelchairs
- Medications
- Blankets
- Laundering and bathing soap
- Plastic bowls, plates, cups and other dishware
LEM is hoping to make a second trip on March 30, 2011, to Saclepea, another refugee center in Liberia, to deliver humanitarian supplies. LEM hopes to care for some of the children who have become orphaned. LEM hopes to secure a nearby building to shelter these children.
LEM prays that you will sense the needs of these refugees and make a special donation. It is estimated that 80,000 refugees have poured into neighboring Liberia and some 450,000 are internally displaced within the borders of Ivory Coast.
